My deep condolences to Nancy's family. I knew Nancy best in grammar and High School years. She had a wonderful smile and a great laugh that I still remember. One of my fondest memories of Nancy was in High School when she had the courage to get up on the stage and sing, "These Boots Were Made for Walking", with her white gogo boots. How she loved to sing!. May she rest in peace.

I learned so much about my Aunt Nancy these last few weeks and I’m so glad we could celebrate the beautiful life that she lived. I feel blessed to be part of her story. I echo Meg’s sentiment, feeling sad that I didn’t know Aunt Nancy as an adult, but I’m proud of the way she raised us and the humans we’ve come up to be.
One of my favorite memories of Aunt Nancy was during a road trip we took to North Carolina in 2013. Aunt Ellen said we’d stop for lunch once we got to Virginia, however we were extremely ahead of pace. Aunt Ellen pulled us straight into a Red Lobster parking lot at 10:30am. Although Aunt Nancy was in the beginning stages of her Alzheimer’s, she was extremely quick and witty, joking to Erika and I that Red Lobster in the morning was WILD, something that Erika and I had secretly already agreed on. We laughed and laughed and ate steak dinners. I loved learning that her humor was what she was known for, and that transcended everyone’s best memories.

Aunt Nancy was a great role model, generous, a nurturer, a warm greeting. She was optimistic, encouraging and always greeted each of us by happily calling out our name, genuinely happy to see us. My siblings, cousins and I knew her as a confidant through our adolescence when we sought a non-judgmental listening ear. I admired her marriage, her mothering, her work ethic and the way she ran a household with Uncle Jim. I would often spend Saturdays with her, going from grocery store to grocery store to get the best price on each item. In those ways she taught me you dont have to be wealthy to be rich. When I was a little girl, she let me push the grocery cart, and inevitably I would run into the back of her ankles and she would get a little mad, but that was about the extent of her anger. I, too, got to ride a roller coaster with Aunt Nancy. I was about 13 years old and she and Uncle Jim let me tag along to Hershey Park with Grandma Napolitano, Brian and Megan. Megan was a toddler and everytime she found a way out of her seatbelt, Aunt Nancy convincingly told her to sit down or the cops are going to take away your bathing suit! Worked like a charm. We rode the big, wooden roller coaster and had a blast. I hope to do it again someday.

My earliest and happiest childhood moments are filled with memories of my Aunt Nancy as a loving, bright and infectiously happy soul, who was the funniest and wittiest person in any room she occupied. Her bombastic personality combined with her motherly, caring spirit always made for a great time. I will miss her laugh, her charm and above all else her singing voice.

I have many wonderful memories of Nancy. She was a wonderful mother and aunt, a wonderful sister-in-law and a great cook (I miss her deviled eggs with paprika, the classic green bean casserole she would make at Thanksgiving and the chocolate peanut butter balls she would make at Christmas, among many other delectable delights). She was the ultimate "hostess-with-the-mostest," inviting all of us to join her family on Christmas Eve in West Haven for visits from Santa when the kids were little. Nancy first welcomed me to the family in 1987, three years before Phil and I were married, and guided us in so many maternally instinctive ways. She loved babies and children and when our daughter, Kathryn, was born, she helped us figure out how to bathe and diaper a newborn, as well as watched her on a daily basis when I returned to work. She was fearless and pragmatic and an awesome singer, who knew every Beatles lyric, almost to the very end. When you are beloved as much as Nancy was by her family and friends, you can't help but know that she was a good person, through and through. Her life was cut short by a dreadful disease -- but she will be forever loved and forever missed.

I have so many FUN memories of Aunt Nancy! One of my favorites is the time that we drove down to NC for Ambers high school graduation. We were all laying down to go to sleep and Aunt Nancy and Boom Boom started to sing a song and Aunt Nancy fist pumped to it. She always made me laugh! I also remember the time that we went to lake Quassy and she was absolutely fearless of getting on the rides. I was so impressed! But my all time favorite memory of her is how much she loved holding my son Dominick when he was a baby. She always asked, “Can I hold the baby?” I am so happy that I always said yes. Rest In Peace Aunt Nancy. I know your dancing, singing and laughing up there.

My favorite memory of Aunt Nancy is when she drove down to North Carolina with Boom Boom, Kat, and John. I knew she and Boom were coming, but they didn't tell me Kat and John were also coming down to visit. I went out to give Aunt Nancy and Boom Boom a hug and they asked me to help take their luggage out of the backseat, and out popped my cousins. We had a really nice week together and I was glad Aunt Nancy got to see my home in NC. I miss her already.
