I learned today of Dr. Shah's passing, and am deeply sad and moved. Dr. Shah performed emergency surgery on me in the spring. He was so kind and compassionate, had a great gentle bedside manner and friendly smile.
My son was getting married a few weeks after my post-op visit, and Dr. Shah had me come in one more time, a week before he retired, just to chat and show him the wedding photos. I asked him what he was going to do when he retired, and he smiled and said he did't know. When he talked about his family and grandchildren, a sparkle come to his eyes.
I was so lucky to have Dr. Shah as my surgeon, and it is because of him that I am healthy and writing this. To his family, I can't imagine your loss. He touched so many lives with his grace. I am thankful and blessed to have known him.

Dear Family of Dr. Shah, I was so very shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Shah! I had been a patient of his for what would have been 25 years in November, 2019. I first met Dr. Shah in November of 1994 for an office visit following my first mammogram which was abnormal at the time. He was recommended to me by Bipin and Anju Dalal. I was immediately drawn to to his kind and very reassuring manner and left his office feeling that no matter what, I was in the best of hands and had nothing to fear. It turned out that an overly zealous radiologist read my first mammogram and interpreted a possible problem when in fact there was not one. I continued to see Dr. Shah on a yearly basis for breast exams following each mammogram...I trusted him completely and relied on his knowledge and expertise more than any other doctor. He was such a sweet and gentle man in addition to being an excellent doctor. When he told me at my last visit in March 2019 that he might retire by year's end, I was very disappointed but happy for him. My sincerest condolences to all of you. He spoke of his wonderful children and grandchildren often and of course his wonderful wife! He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him! Rest in eternal peace Dr. Shah. Much Love, Pam Seitz

Our Dearest Dr. Shah,
We are all devastated to learn of your passing. Your Burn Unit family loved you so much! Your friendly arrival on the unit always brought a smile to our faces no matter what sort of day we were having. You were an excellent surgeon whom your patients trusted with their lives. You treated your patients and their families as if they were your own: with respect and compassion. You would sit and chat and joke with us and you would proudly show us many wonderful photos of your children and grandchildren. We were so happy to see how much you loved your family! Our fondest memories of you will be in our hearts as we process this incredible loss.

I have known Subhash for for almost 50 years. We trained together at Bridgeport Hospital. Subhash was an excellent clinician, surgeon, and a compassionate doctor. He was gentle, kind, and always approachable. When my pediatric patients had a surgical emergency, Subhash was always available, day or night, and gave consistently the same caring, competent service. He was well respected by his medical peers, and he was trustworthy. My own grandfather was a patient in Bridgeport hospital, well into his 80's. Subhash called me at home at 4 AM to tell me that my grandfather had a perforated gastric ulcer, and that he would arrange for surgery early that morning. In his ever humble manner,he said that he would have Dr. Andy Owens, his senior partner and revered surgeon, perform the surgery. I said,"Subhash, you will do the surgery," knowing full well that he would do an excellent job. "Gramp" came through it with flying colors. The years pass too quickly, and so many memories of patients and committed doctors like Subhash seem to blend together. But I'll never forget him, nor will so many of the patients to whom he rendered such thoughtful and thorough care. He was truly a great surgeon, but an ever bigger man. God bless you and your family, always,Subhash. Jerry Hemenway.

Over the years, the many patients that I sent to him invariably returned complimenting both his skill and compassion. He extended his kindness to patients, staff, and colleagues alike, and will be greatly missed.
