Obituary of Antonio Barros

Antonio Barros, age 85, of Bridgeport and formerly of Waterbury, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 29, 1924 in Zebral, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio and Ana Barros. Mr. Barros came to the United States on April 3, 1960 and settled in Waterbury where he lived until recently moving to Bridgeport. He was a retired employee of the Sealy Mattress Corp. and the Rubber Shop of Waterbury and was a member of the Portuguese Sporting Club and Our Lady of Fatima Church of Waterbury. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he was always dedicated to the love and care of his family.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Jose and Joaquim Barros.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Arminda Branco Barros, three loving children, Maria Moreno and her husband John of Fairfield, Virginia Teixeira and her husband Albino of Florida and Raul Barros of Beacon Falls, seven cherished grandchildren, Dina Massey and her husband Michael, Paul Moreno, Tina Drongeson and her husband Leland, Joyce Teixeira, Albino Teixeira Jr. and Anthony and Michael Barros, seven great grandchildren Marc, Olivia, Madeline, Ben, Leland, Dylan and Tyler, a sister, Virginia Pedro of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing staff of the 3rd floor at the Ludlowe Center for Health & Rehabilitation. We are so incredibly grateful for the wonderful care you provided for our beloved "paizinho" these past few months. Your kindness toward him and the rest of our family has been appreciated more than you will ever know. You will always have a special place in our hearts. 

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
