Obituary of Franklyn A. Barrueco

Franklyn A. Barrueco, age 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2019 surrounded by family at his home in Seymour, CT. Born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba on October 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Thomas Barrueco and Florentina "Flora" Perez. Before his retirement in 2009, Franklyn had been employed by Pitney Bowes as a mechanical assembler for many years. Prior to that, he spent over nine years at Bridgeport Machines where he built numerous lasting relationships. A remarkably gifted man with his hands, he could fix anything in unconventional ways using few resources and lots of imagination. His greatest enjoyment, however, came from the time he spent with his family and friends. He was generous with his time, his love, and his stories—especially about the old days in Cuba. Both Franklyn and his lively anecdotes will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Franklyn was survived by his loving wife of more than thirty years, Ciana Barrueco, a Senior Data Architect at Subway World Headquarters; his three children Franklyn O. Barrueco of Seymour, CT, Albert Llosas Barrueco and his wife Julia of New York, NY, and Susana Barrueco and her husband Abbas Shafiee-Sabet of Montreal, Canada; his three grandchildren Parker James Barrueco and Arash and Sheereen Shafiee-Sabet; his brother Thomas Barrueco; and his two nieces Licinia "Lulu" Barrueco Kaliher and Sandra Barrueco.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford, CT.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Institute for Neurodegenerative Disorders (IND) or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
