Mr. Menta made going to Wilbur Cross fun. I had never seen a principal paddle children before but, they needed it and respected him for disciplining them. Together with Mr. Norwood, they made a great team. I will hold onto my memories of him forever. I am sorry for your loss.

I would like to offer my condolences to the Menta family.
I was a student at Hall School in Bridgeport in the late 60's. When I saw the name Mr Menta on Facebook I smiled, although sad. Mr. Menta was the principal and at any time in a day, we would be sent to the auditorium for a volleyball game. No reason just a break in the day.
I learned from Mr. Menta that no matter how stressful life may be even as children, take a break, it's worth it. You will have a new perspective on the day and life for that matter.
I thank him for that every day. He made a difference in many of our lives back then

O how do I begin, Mr. Menta was my principal at Wilbur Cross k-6 grade.. I am 53 now, when I seen that Mr. Menta had passed, it kind of took me for a loop, I remember him well, he was the nicest, kindest man ever. I remember they skipped me to 4th grade for reading and math, but kids being kids, they bullied me, taunted me and I ran into the bathroom and would'nt come out..Mr. Menta came in and picked me up and bought me to the office and i told him what was happening he called my Mom. I felt so safe and secure and i will always remember him fondly and with Love. My sincere condolences to the Family. he was one of a kind, even his paddle..lol I only got one... loved and adored.
