Obituary of Mary Joseph

Resident of Milford Mary Freitas Joseph, age 87, of Milford, a retired employee of Sikorsky Aircraft, died peacefully on Monday, June 18, 2007 in Maefair Health Care Center. Born in New Bedford, MA on May 26, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Catherine Soares Freitas. Following her retirement from Sikorsky, Mrs. Joseph worked at Subway Headquarters for 18 years where she was affectionately known to her extended family as Grandma. She was a very outgoing and energetic woman who could always put a smile on your face. She was pre-deceased by her husbands, John Alfonso and George A. Joseph, as well as a brother, Anthony Freitas. Survivors include four loving sons, Dr. Peter Alfonso and his wife Polly of Rhode Island, John Alfonso and his wife Elaine of California, Joseph Alfonso and his wife Valerie of Trumbull and Richard Alfonso and his wife Susan of South Windsor, twelve cherished grandchildren, Donna Moore and her husband Douglas, Susan Hayenga and her husband Gene, Jeanne Alfonso, Ryan Alfonso and his wife Roxanne, Lisa Fede and her husband Nello, Jody, Kevin, Jason, Maya and Ava Alfonso, Clay and Jordan Heinz, twelve great grandchildren, Jessica, Victoria, Sophia, Lucia, Angela, Erin, Ryan, Lindsey, Amber, Eric, Jessica and Eliza, two great great grandchildren, Carter and Madison. Funeral Information Friends and relatives may meet directly on Friday, June 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Old Milford Cemetery, Milford.
