Obituary of Mary F. Babina

Mary F. (Moyher) Babina, age 85, died on Sunday, July 24, 2005 in Trumbull. She was the wife of the late John Babina, Sr. and daughter of the late Paul J. Moyher and Mary Sekelsky Moyher. Born in Bridgeport, she graduated from Harding High School and Butler Business School. Before marriage, Mary worked as a group leader at General Electric on radio and defense projects during World War II. She was active in industrial league basketball and softball for Radio Hospital. Mrs. Babina was a resident of Trumbull for 49 years and was a dedicated member of the Womens Guild of St. Catherine of Siena Church. She was also active in the Trumbull High Parents Sports Club for 20 years, volunteered at St. Josephs Manor and held various positions in the Girl Scouts and Brownie movement. Later in life, she worked for Reads and Jordan Marsh Department Stores. Mary loved to travel and toured the country with her husband who was on the executive board of the AVCO management club. Her life was centered around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by four children, Ada Sala and her husband, Charles, John Babina, Jr. and his wife, Carol, all of Monroe, Daniel Babina and his wife, Trisha and David Babina and his wife, Christine, all of Oxford, She also had seven grandchildren, Charles Sala and his wife, Catherine, Julie Smith and her husband, Jay, John Babina, III and his wife, Robyn and Matthew, Arianne, Greg and Melissa Babina, three great grandchildren, Katelin and Kevin Sala and Charliann Smith. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, John and Paul Moyher and one sister, Anne Petrovick. She is survived by one brother, William Moyher and his wife, Mary Ellen of Huntington and two sisters, Helen Kader and her husband, James of Milford and Christine Lapinski of Clinton and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, July 27, 2005 at 8:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Jude, Monroe for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
