Obituary of Thomas P. Barrett
Thomas Patrick Barrett, age 86, of Bridgeport, a retired employee of the Bridgeport Gas Company with over 47 years of service, died Thursday, January 20, 2005 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Dunmore, Pennsylvania on March 11, 1918, he was a son of the late Michael and Winifred Lynett Barrett. A proud U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he served under General George Patton in the Third Army from Normandy to Berlin. He also fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a bartender at Huntington Inn for over 25 years.
He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Edna Marquis Barrett and two brothers, Michael and Marty Barrett.
Survivors include a son, Paul Barrett and his wife, Nancy of West Islip, Long Island, two daughters, Linda Kim Pogorzelski and her husband, Robert of Bethlehem and Michelle Porzelt and her husband, Bruce of Southbury, a brother, Tony Barrett and a sister, Peg Dougherty, both of Dunmore, PA, seven grandchildren, Thomas, Scott, Christopher, Nicholas, Rachel, Melissa and Adam, two great grandchildren, Tiarra and Caroline, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
