Obituary of Joseph A. Malvasi
Joseph A. Malvasi, age 99, of Shelton and formerly of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Leonarda (Lee) Zito Malvasi, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018. Born in Fairfield on July 4, 1919, he was a son of the late Anthony and Antoinette Caruso Malvasi. A U.S. Air Force Veteran, Joe was a retired salesman for the former American Linen, where he was the top salesman four years in a row. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Park City Council and the Greater Bridgeport Oldtimers Assoc. where he was a past president. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include a loving daughter, Kate Malvasi-Cagganello and her husband Thomas, Sr. of Monroe, a brother, Michael Malvasi and his wife Shirley of Shelton, two grandchildren, Stacy Mezick and her husband Matt and Thomas Cagganello Jr. and his fiancée, Margaret Branca, four great grandchildren, Cole, Kayleigh, Aidan and Tommy as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Frank Malvasi and two sisters, Julia Tagliatela and Rose Vacca.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday morning from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
