Obituary of Janice J. Malizia

Janice Malizia, age 75, of Norwalk, CT., beloved wife of the late Joseph O. Malizia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at St. Joseph's Center. Born on March 10, 1943 in Bronx, NY, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Louise Loftus Hyland.

Janice was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother. She was a fan of music (especially 1950s) and often reminisced about attending the Dick Clark Show as a teen. She was talented in cooking, baking, dancing, art, and speaking. She was very outgoing and would make friends with perfect strangers anywhere she went. Her interests included reading and gardening, as well as collecting music boxes, paintings, and antiques. She also loved watching birds and other wildlife, and identified the birds and bugs she found with the help of her trusty books. Before her illness took over, Janice was also very active in her faith at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include her three children, Gregory Malizia & his wife Ursula of Westport, Eric Malizia & his wife Sadie of West Bountiful, UT. and Leigh Malizia & her husband Chris Fischman of Monroe, six adored grandchildren, Cole, Laney, Brett, Sydney, Riley and Evan and siblings, Joyce Hyland, Jackie DePaoli and her husband Louis, Jennifer Hyland, all of FL. and Kenneth Hyland and his wife Elaine of Trumbull as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial/wake at 10 a.m. August 24, 2018, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 682 South Ave., New Canaan, CT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, www.alzfdn.org.
