Obituary of Joseph W. Slossar

Joseph W. Slossar, age 78, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Barbara A. Deyo Slossar, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at his home with his faithful canine "boys" by his side. Born in Bridgeport on September 19, 1939 he was a son of the late Joseph R. and Irene Walko Slossar. Mr. Slossar had been employed by Norwalk Hospital as an X-Ray technician, where he accumulated 50 years of dedicated service before his retirement. An avid Boston Red Sox fan and huge dog lover, he also found great enjoyment building model rockets and planes. He enjoyed cooking and creating many exotic dishes for family and friends. Above all else however, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his three sons, David Slossar of Coventry, Stephen Slossar of Hudson, NH and Gregory Slossar of Salisbury, NH, his daughters-in-law, Cassie, Kim and Bobbi and his six beloved grandchildren, Emilie, James, Ashlyn, Hunter, Samantha and Logan. He is also survived by his sister, Teri Noel of Shelton, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Slossar of Huntington and Ruthann Slossar of Hamlin, NY as well as many cherished nephews. In addition to his beloved wife Barbara, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Ronald Slossar.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Ave., Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
