Obituary of Maria Vieira Martins

Maria Vieira Martins, age 97, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Antonio Martins, passed away on June 2, 2018 at Cambridge Manor with her loving family by her side. Born in Waterbury on June 30, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Francisco and Ana Amaro Vieira and was a longtime resident of Bridgeport. Before her retirement, Maria worked as a seamstress at the former Leather Mode Coat Factory for many years. She was dedicated to the love and care of her family and had a strong faith in God. She loved spending time with her family especially with her grandson and great grandson. The unconditional love she gave, and the memories created will continue to live on in their hearts forever. The family would like to thank the staff and her roommate Frances at Cambridge Manor for all the care and compassion they gave to Maria.

Survivors include two loving children, Adriel “Eddie” Martins and his wife Eva of Titusville, FL and Gloria Pires of Bridgeport, a step daughter, Joaquina Ferreira of Portugal, a cherished grandson, Lelo Pires and his wife Christina and a adored great grandson, Grayson. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Linda Vieira of Trumbull and Teresa Martins of Bridgeport as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Julio Vieira and a sister Izaura Vittorino.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.  Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4-8 pm.
