Obituary of John J. Lee, Jr.

John J. Lee, Jr., age 75, beloved husband of Betty Schiesser Lee of Monroe, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Connecticut Veterans Medical Center of West Haven. Born in the Bronx, New York on October 12, 1942, he was a son of the late John J. Lee, Sr. and Bettina Heiser Lee. After graduating high school, John joined the United States Navy and served from 1959 – 1963. Before his retirement he worked as a third railman  on the railroad, a terminal manager with an oil company and a manager for a dry cleaners. John could build, fix, and run anything for anyone. He was always good for a laugh as his sense of humor and storytelling were incomparable. He enjoyed fishing, boating, crossword puzzles, and was an avid New York Yankees fan, but above all he loved the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Whether John was on his patio with Betty, relaxing with the kids by the pool, going through the Duchess drive-thru with them, just watching tv on the couch, or sharing a story, there were always smiles and laughs all around.

In addition to his beloved wife Betty of 50 years, survivors include a son Jonathan Lee and his wife Wendy of Poughquag, NY and Jennifer Yoguez and her husband Jorge of Trumbull, six cherished grandchildren, Jorge Jr., Travis, Harrison, Isabela, Miranda, and Mikaela, five brothers, Jimmy, Gregory, Peter, Ronnie and Matty and four sisters, Carolyn, Cecelia, Lisa and Pamela as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Denise and Bonnie. John was also predeceased by his mother-in-law Lillian Schiesser with whom he shared a very special bond. He always said that Betty’s family was his family, and there was an undeniable closeness among them all.

All funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
