Obituary of Eugenia "Jean" Clark

Eugenia "Jean" Scherbach Clark, age 93, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter Clark. Born in Bridgeport on June 27, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Justin and Sophia Karpawicz Scherbach. In 1938, Jean was proud to attend the World's Fair, where she played the balalaika in the Russian Pavilion with her church group. A graduate of the Bridgeport School of Nursing, Jean later became a cadet nurse during World War II. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Bridgeport Hospital for many years and most recently had been employed by the Dinan Memorial Center, where she dedicated another 17 years of service. Jean served on the Bridgeport Hospital Nurses Alumni Association and was an extremely active volunteer with both Bridgeport Hospital and Heart Beats, Inc. where she accumulated over 2500 hours of community service. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving children, Nancy Zychek and her husband George of Stratford, Daniel Clark and his wife Marian of Stamford, Thomas Clark and his wife Barbara of Fairfield and Justine Labate and her husband John of Shelton, her eight cherished grandchildren and seven adored great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Peter, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Olga Kasper and Vera Scherbach. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church, 1540 East Main St., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with Panachida Service at 4:30 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Ghost Scholarship Fund, 1540 East Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06608.
