I have many fond memories of John, especially his always thoughtful support of our managers, supervisors sales executives and employees in Oak Brook, Stamford, Nevada, Ames and Lincoln--in other words all members of the Donnelley team held Mr. Cleary in the highest regard. John cared! An example that my spouse Eileen and I hold close to our heart is when John traveled from his home in Connecticut to attend my Retirement dinner held in Ames, and share words in my honor that were all too kind.
John was the personification of a successful executive that may be fictionally portrayed in a professional journal. The difference is that John's accomplishments were "real life" and during my career I tried every day to emulate this great man!
John will be missed by all--RIP Mr. Cleary!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I too have felt the pain of losing some of those I love in death. I hope you are being surrounded by loving family and friends and taking care of yourself during this difficult time. The God of all comfort provides hope for those who have passed away and comfort for those who have survived. We are promised that our loved ones will return to us one day very soon. As Jesus resurrected his friend, Lazarus, and many others, you will see your loved one again. (John 5:28, 29) How the True God longs to do that! (Job 14:14, 15). Until then, may we continue to keep their memory warm in our hearts until we see them happy and healthy again one day very soon. Prayers and thoughts are with you . . .

I am so sorry for your loss. The Bible describes death as an enemy, and how fitting, since death brings us so much pain. But there is someone who is stronger than death. “He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, For Jehovah himself has spoken it.” Isaiah 25:8 Jehovah will remove the cause of our suffering and dry our eyes. Death will be destroyed, and those who have died will be brought back to life, with the prospect of living forever in paradise on earth. Right now it may be hard to see past the pain, but there is hope for the future. May this hope comfort your grieving hearts. Aa

Our sincere condolences on the loss of Uncle John. It is sad that he is gone but we are left with the wonderful memories of a life well lived by a man with a passion for family, fun and the Chicago Cubs. We are the lucky ones to have been able to share so many good times with he and Aunt Delores and we will have those memories forever.
