Obituary of Carmen Yates Ochman
Carmen Yates Ochman, age 92, of Stratford passed away peacefully on April 6, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Norwalk on June 26, 1925 she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lilly Dengel Yates. Carmen was a devoted mother, a selfless spouse, a sweet sister and a loyal friend. She was a deeply devoted Catholic and prayed the rosary several times a day. Carmen accepted life’s hardships and always trusted in God’s will. She was the consummate homemaker and a wonderful wife who delighted in caring for her husband and six children. She loved reading mysteries, going out to dinner and watching Jeopardy. Carmen’s road to heaven was paved by her loving husband Stanley, her daughter Mary Elizabeth Yarson, and her son Chris Ochman.
Carmen is survived by her kind and loyal brother, Larry Yates (Carol) and brother-in-law, Lou Esposito, her biggest fan, Marion Hulton, daughters, Patricia Ochman, Barbara Reyer (Mark), Catherine Auger, her son, Michael Ochman (Susan), son-in-law, Don Yarson and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the dedicated, compassionate staff of St. Vincent’s Emergency Dept. and 9 South and the outstanding care she received at Lord Chamberlain Rehab. A special thank you to Vitas Hospice and our angel Alettia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carmen’s name may be made to Caroline House, 574 Stillman St., Bridgeport, CT 06608. Arrangements have been entrusted to Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull.
