Obituary of Mario DeGirolamo
Mario DeGirolamo, age 82, of Milford, beloved husband of Carmella Tufaro DeGirolamo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 25, 1935 in Faeto, Province of Foggia, Italy, he was a son of the late Michele and Angela Spinelli DeGirolamo. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, Mario was a Master Mechanic and a 58-year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 478 before his retirement.
He was a lifetime member of the Miamogue Yacht Club, enjoyed gardening, canning his fruits and vegetables, loved fishing with his children and grandchildren; he was a great cook and loved woodworking. Mario was a fan of the New York Yankees and Giants and loved UCONN Women's Basketball.
Mario was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family and the love and care he provided will always live in their hearts. He will be truly missed by all who loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife of 59 years, Carmella, survivors include three loving children, Michael DeGirolamo and his wife Sharon Blomgren of Oxford, Lisa Spiegel and her husband Robert of Milford and Anthony DeGirolamo and his fiancé Sheryl Toth of Milford, five cherished grandchildren, Robert Jr., and Nicholas Spiegel, Michael Jr., Alexandra and Giana Rose DeGirolamo, sister, Clara DeGirolamo of Foggia, Italy, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Matthew Spiegel and brothers, Nicola and Amedeo DeGirolamo as well as his canine companions, Princess and King.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ann Church (St. Raphael Parish), 501 Naugatuck Ave., Milford. Interment with full military honors will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
