Obituary of Giulio Nicolia

Giulio Nicolia, age 94, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Pasqualina Sanita Nicolia, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 in St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Born in Torrice, Province of Frosinone, Italy on August 18, 1923, he was a son of the late Gerardo and Christina Marini Nicolia. A respected member of the Federal Police in Italy during the War, he emigrated to the United States in 1948. He was a retired member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local for more than 65 years. Giulio worked for many companies, including E & F Construction and Frouge Construction Co.

He enjoyed watching soccer, especially his favorite team Roma and could often be found with his friends playing bocce. He was a member of the Circolo Sportivo Italo Americano Club, loved tending to his garden and making wine with his family. But above all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His love and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife Pasqualina of 71 years, survivors include, two loving daughters, Rita Testani and her husband Gino of Bridgeport and Maria Paniccia and her husband Natale of Monroe, four cherished grandchildren, Michael Testani and his wife Luciana, Jean-Marie Coppola and her husband Greg, Natalie Mallone and her husband Larry and Elizabeth Alves and her husband Danny, two adored great grandchildren, Nicolas and Gina Coppola, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Armando Nicolia and a sister Anna Iaboni.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.  Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1 - 5 p.m.
