Obituary of Valdemar Esteves Sr.
Valdemar Esteves Sr., age 72, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Adelaide Goncalves Esteves, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home. Born on October 16, 1945 in Pedrario, Montalegre, Portugal, he was the son of Alice Vicencio Esteves of Bridgeport and the late Domingos Esteves. Val was the owner and operator of Nunes Auto Body and Sales for 43 years. He truly loved going to work every day and helping people. In recent years he valued and treasured working alongside his family every day at the garage.
A U.S. Army Veteran, Val proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Vasco da Gama Club, where he was instrumental in the formation and building of the club, was the #1 socio, and a well-respected member; he was also a parishioner at St. Augustine Cathedral, where he was an usher for Sunday Mass. Living in the hollow section of Bridgeport, Val always watched out for his neighbors. He enjoyed having big gatherings at home and loved to be out on the water in his boat and fishing with his grandkids during the summer months.
But above all his roles in life none was more important than that of husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. Val's smile could light up a room every time his grandchildren walked into the room. The love and memories they created together will remain in their hearts forever. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife of 50 years, Adele, and his mother, survivors include his two loving children, Michele Esteves DeBille and her husband Bill of Bridgeport and Valdemar Esteves Jr., and his wife Maria of Trumbull, three cherished and adored grandchildren, Kayla, Kyle and Sara; his sister Arminda Radzwillas and her husband Paul of Trumbull, brother-in-law, Joe Goncalves of Bridgeport, nephews and nieces, Jason, Matthew and Ashley Goncalves and Tiffany Golia. He also leaves to cherish his memory many cousins, employees and dear friends. He was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Antonio and Maria Goncalves.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial.
