Obituary of Rita A. Ignitus

Rita A. Lovanio Ignitus, age 88, of Shelton passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 10, 2018. Rita was the beloved wife of the late Louis Ignitus and was also predeceased by her first husband, Dr. Paul Mastrony. Born in Bridgeport on October 22, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Edward and Rose Pilgoste Lovanio. She was a graduate of St. Johns Commercial High. The arts were important to Rita and she enjoyed teaching ceramics for a time. Rita was a lover of fashion and appreciated a good pair of shoes and a nice handbag. Writing poetry, indulging in ice cream and all types of music were some of her favorite things. Rita had impeccable grammar skills and was always quick-witted with a pun up her sleeve. She had a way with words, and always seemed to know the right thing to say on any occasion. Rita was a very gracious hostess and loved to entertain. Simply stated, she was the best wife, mother and grandmother you could ever ask for. Rest In Peace, Mom, you will be forever loved and missed by all. Rita is survived by her loving daughter, Jill Kolaniak of Shelton, her cherished grandchildren, Sarah Munsie and her husband Scott of Bethel and David Kolaniak of Shelton, her two adored great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Preston Munsie, her brothers, Edward (Bill) Lovanio of Stratford and Joseph Lovanio and his wife Kathleen of Orange, her sister-in-law, Sylvia D'Ausilio of Utah as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her previous husbands, she was also predeceased by her brother, Gabriel Lovanio and his wife Erminia, her sister, Edith Lee and her husband Leonard, and her sisters-in-law, Clemincine Miller, Mildred Firer and Elizabeth Chacho and their spouses.. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 200 Executive Blvd. Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489. Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull is in charge of the arrangements.
