Obituary of Theodore L. Dreher

Theodore L. Dreher, Jr., age 85, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Barbara Parrish Dreher, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in New York, NY on September 25, 1932, he was a son of the late Theodore L. Dreher, Sr. and Hilda Crumb Dreher and was a longtime resident of Bridgeport. Also known as "Lonny" to many of his friends and family, he will always be remembered for his ever-smiling and obliging nature. Lonny was a very hard working devoted family man, always sacrificing of himself or his time for them. Whether it was leaving school early to care for his parents after his dad was hurt in a work accident, or working 3 jobs, 7 days a week, to put his son through Parochial school, while still finding time to be very active at church and many charities associated with church and school. At his retirement Mr. Dreher was a foreman in the shipping and receiving department at L.P. MacAdams Printing with over 50 years of dedicated service. A devoted Catholic, Lonny was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church of Bridgeport, where he was an usher for over 50 years, a member of the Holy Name Society and donated a lot of his time to the church and school. He was also a very active member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis Cabrini Council where he was a former Grand Knight. He loved playing baseball in his youth, a left fielder for Saint Ann's Grammar School and Bassick High School and later watching baseball. After the Brooklyn Dodgers left New York (traitors) he became an avid New York Met's Fan. He also enjoyed dancing at all the church functions. Survivors include a loving son, Quentin Dreher and devoted daughter-in-law and caretaker, Lynda of Bridgeport, a beloved niece, Linda Dreher and her husband Jay Costello of Waterbury and a nephew, Allan Dreher of Westport. He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Dreher. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Friday evening 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, 1 Columbus Plaza, New Haven, CT 06510 or to Catholic Charities, 238 Jewett Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
