Obituary of Sylvia R. Pelak
Sylvia Rosemary Pelak, daughter of the late Charles and Tina Arnone, entered into eternal rest on December 19, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Stephen J. Pelak for sixty two years.
She met the love of her life, Stephen, working at the Okonite Company and they both were married on July 2, 1955 in Monterey, California.
She was born in Passaic, New Jersey, and moved often until she resided in Connecticut, most recently Trumbull. She was truly considered Connecticut her home as she lived here with her husband for forty-one years.
Sylvia was a devout Roman Catholic and for 41 years was a proud member of St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, her most cherished church in her lifetime. Jesus and Mother Mary were foremost in her life. As an active member she was a Eucharistic Minister, an adorer in the Adoration Chapel, and a Nursing Home visitor. In addition to St. Theresa’s, her other love was Graymoor, Harrison, NY, where she would go to visit her very close friend of 50 years, Father Robert Warren, SA.
Sylvia loved being a grandma to her beautiful grandchildren, spending time with them at the park or just hanging with them talking about their day. As they grew, she loved listening to their fun times and watching them grow-up to be fine young adults.
She is survived by her brother, Louis Arnone of Tampa, Florida, her loving children, daughter Tina (Bruce) Scull of Huntington, CT, and Stephen L. (Eddy Jean) Pelak of Trumbull, and never to be forgotten her cherished grandchildren, Kara Pelak, Stephen Pelak, Colin Scull, Kaitlyn Pelak, and great-grandchild Savannah Joy Pelak.
Calling hours will be on December 22, 2017 from 9:00am to 10:30am, at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, 5301 Main Street, Trumbull, CT. Following mass, final burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, PO Box 301, Garrison, NY 10524, www.atonementfriars.org or St. Theresa Church.
