Obituary of William John Corey, Jr.

William John Corey, Jr. age 66, of Shelton and formerly of Norwalk, beloved husband of the late Cynthia Maker Corey, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at his home with his family by his side after a valiant fight with ALS. Mr. Corey was born on June 9, 1951 in Bridgeport and was a son of the late William J. Corey, Sr. and Mary McDermott Corey.

Before his retirement he was a corporate attorney with American Frozen Foods for many years. Bill was an avid sports fanatic and loved following the New York Mets and the New York Jets. He enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of his yard but above all things, his grandchildren were the most important part of his life.

Survivors include his loving children, Jennifer Teixeira and her husband John of Naugatuck, Meghan Giard of Shelton and William J. Corey III of Shelton, five cherished grandchildren, Makayla, Hunter, Trevor, Jacob and Tyler, three brothers, Terrance Corey, Kevin Corey and his wife Sue, Bob Corey and Meg Dennis, his mother-in-law, Joan Maker, a sister-in-law Elizabeth Peterson and her husband Sandy and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Thomas Byrne and father-in-law Thomas L. Maker.

Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the ALS Association Connecticut Chapter, 4 Oxford Road - Unit E4 - Milford, CT 06460.
