Obituary of Leo F. Gregg

Leo F. Gregg, age 93, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 6, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth Buckley Gregg. Born in Taunton, MA on July 3, 1924, he was a son of the late Edward and Emma Donahue Gregg. A proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Leo had served honorably during World War II. After graduating from Babson Utopia College in Kansas, he moved to Connecticut where he met and married his beloved 'Bette". He later was the owner and operator of the Gregg Printing Company, formerly of Fairfield, a business he and his wife ran together for 27 years. Leo served as the Park Commissioner for the Town of Fairfield for many years, and was instrumental in the building of the Par 3 golf course in Fairfield, as well as serving on the building committee for the Smith Richardson Golf Course. Mr. Gregg was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, organizing numerous fundraisers and dances for Glenmary Home Missioners. A long-time member of the Gaelic American Club, he was especially proud of his Irish heritage, developing a brogue when it suited him. A long-time golfer, Leo enjoyed many golf outings to Cape Cod with his friends from the club. An avid Patriot and Red Sox fan, he rarely missed watching a game for either team. A man of deep faith, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Papa Leo's wit, charm, and infectious humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Bette of nearly 62 years, he is also survived by his loving children, Carole LeMoult and her husband Chris of Trumbull, and Dan Gregg of Georgia, his five cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Heather, Jeremy and his wife Angela, Shea, and Kate LeMoult, four adored great grandchildren, Aleesia, J.J., Cora and Nya, as well as his sister Carol Dion of Taunton, Mass, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, John Gregg and Charles Gregg and his great granddaughter, Gianna LeMoult.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to VITAS, VNS and Hope Health Care Organizations for their kindness and compassion that they had extended while caring for Leo during this difficult time.

Friends may greet the family on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
