Obituary of Rachel S. Yahwak

Rachel S. Black Yahwak, age 73, of Trumbull, beloved wife of George Yahwak, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in Mount Vernon, NY on January 13, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Anna Feiner Black. She was a graduate of Syracuse University and was afterwards employed as a Research Scientist at the National Institutes of Health in Washington, DC studying influenza virus vaccines. After moving to Connecticut, she was an accountant with Taunton Press in Newtown and an Office Manager at Cameca Instruments in Monroe. However, her most important position was as the beloved matriarch of her family. In addition to her husband, George, survivors include two loving sons, Jason and his wife Gail of Gorham, ME, and Joshua and his wife Kristen of Middletown. In addition, she leaves four cherished grandchildren Amelia, Anna, Lucy and Benjamin, all of whom call her Grammie, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
