Obituary of Carmella Teresa Tuozzoli

Carmella (Connie) T. Gambardella Tuozzoli, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Francis J. Tuozzoli, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Born in Bridgeport, CT in the "hollow section" of Bridgeport on May 29, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Pantelone and Theresa Gambardella and was a proud and longtime resident of Bridgeport, before moving to Bridges by Epoch, Trumbull, two years ago. Connie loved her new community where she met new friends, sang old familiar songs, and enjoyed winning at Bingo. As a graduate of St. Augustine and Central High Schools, Connie worked in many capacities but her favorite position was working alongside her two best friends at the OB-GYN Specialty Group, in Bridgeport, until her retirement. However, her biggest joy was spending time with her family and passing on family traditions such as making Sunday gravy and preparing the traditional seven fish meal on Christmas Eve. Connie was a kind, considerate, loving, Catholic woman, always delighted when family and friends dropped in for a cup of tea, where her back door was always open. Family meant everything to Connie. From the time her four beloved grandchildren were born, she spent every Wednesday babysitting them, from birth through grade school, while preparing the "Wednesday and Sunday Night" family dinners. She is survived by three loving daughters, Valerie L. Hamann and her husband, Gary of Easton, Francine A. Parente and her husband, Lenny of Trumbull, and Paula M. Behanna and her husband, David of Trumbull, and four cherished grandchildren, Michael Jake and Zachary Parente and Emery and Chloe Behanna and her best friend and sister, Rose Sansonetti, of Stratford and four nephews and their families whom she loved deeply. She is predeceased by three brothers, Natale, Tony and Louie and one sister, Marie, her sidekick, enjoying living next door to each other and sitting under the grapevine eating ice cream sandwiches together. Our family cannot express in words how grateful we are to everyone at the Jewish Home for the care and compassion they extended her during the last two weeks of her life. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's association (www.alz.org).
