Our deepest condolences to Bernies families . I lived across the street from Bob and Phyllis and remember Bernie coming over to their house and always had a smile on his face and a good story to tell oh and the great steak sandwiches on the Fourth of July !! Thanks for the memories Bernie!

Dear Eileen, Phyllis, Michael and Family- I'm deeply saddened to hear of Bernie's passing. I have fond memories of your home on Garden Drive. I laugh thinking how Eileen and I tormented him by turning over the mats and laughing like crazy as he'd scream! He would always get us tickets for the midway and had an endless supply of candy! He was always such a kind, caring, and generous soul. This is the way I will remember him. I believe he's at peace with Jeanette by his side taking good care of him. After all these years we still talk about & remember with the fondest of memories our favorite policeman Bernie. He was there everyday to make sure we crossed the street safely at Nathan Hale School in Bridgeport, CT. Some days, even took us home ! Taught us to respect our men in blue! I met Bernie several times for coffee with other retired officers. Bernie was a wealth of information remembering my dad and telling stories of the old time police officers. He knew the great ones from the not so great. Bernie was one of the a great ones. That's for damn sure. Bernie? Cycle 10. It was my great honor to meet and talk with you Sir. My condolences to his entire family. I'm so sorry for your loss. God recruited a great cop for heavens precinct. Saves us all a seat Bernie. You will be missed.
