Obituary of Rosina D'Andrea

Rosina DiCienzo Giammarco D’Andrea, age 97, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Anthony D’Andrea, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. Born in Introdacqua, Province of Aquila Abruzzi, Italy on January 5, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Nicola and Filomena Susi DiCienzo. Rosina immigrated to the United States with her loving daughter and husband by her side. She was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She would always do for others before doing for herself. She had a heart of gold. Rosina was a very devout Catholic. She enjoyed praying her Rosary daily, attending weekly church services and watching Mass on TV. Up until the age of 85, she enjoyed making her delicious homemade pizza and her infamous pizzelle cookies. In her younger days, she enjoyed picking vegetables in her son-in-law’s garden and making homemade pasta, soup and gnocchi.

Rosina was predeceased by her beloved three year old son, Domenico Giammarco, her cherished daughter, Laura Giammarco DiPietro, her first husband, Vincenzo Giammarco, her second husband, Antonio D’Andrea, a sister, Vincenza DiCienzo Pietrangeli and a brother Felix DiCienzo.

Survivors include her beloved and always caring son-in-law, Emanuele DiPietro, a stepson, Anthony D’Andrea and companion Violetta Ayalon, a brother, Joseph DiCienzo and his wife Francesca of Massachusetts, sister-in-law, Antonietta DiCienzo of Massachusetts, three granddaughters, Michele DiPietro, Roseann DiPietro Sutay and her husband Robert and Ann Marie DiPietro Brown and her husband Collier, three affectionate and caring great grandchildren, Christopher Sutay and girlfriend, Sarah McKane, Wilfred Villanova IV and Jeffrey Sutay and lastly her cherished nephew and niece, Jack Pietrangeli and Carmela Pietrangeli Palmieri and her husband Antonio.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret’s Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.
