Obituary of Rita G. Broderick

Rita Giannettino Broderick, age 70, of Monroe entered into eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at her son’s residence in Massachusetts. She was the beloved wife of the late Ronald J. Broderick. Born in Bridgeport, CT on September 9, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Matthew Giannettino and Sandra Purciello Giannettino. Rita had been employed by Peoples United Bank where she worked as Director of ACH Operations.

Rita was a very kind, loving and giving person who had a very strong belief and faith in the Lord.  She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, always putting everyone else’s needs before her own.  She treasured spending time with friends and family.  She especially valued the time spent with her grandchildren, Reid and Kira. Rita loved shopping, cooking for family and friends and carrying on her mother’s tradition of making chocolate chip cookies for every occasion. The memories and love she unconditionally gave will continue to live in our hearts forever.  She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rita is survived by her loving son, Todd Broderick and his wife Kelly of Massachusetts, her cherished grandchildren, Reid and Kira Broderick, her sister, Loretta Ciocca and husband Anthony of Monroe.  She leaves behind loving nieces and nephews, in-laws and a host of treasured friends. Rita’s family extends their most sincere gratitude to her caring teams and nurses at Massachusetts General Hospital for the care and compassion they showed to Rita and her family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum of Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday morning from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02144 and indicate for 10th floor, Lunder.
