Obituary of Virginia McGowan

Virginia McDonald McGowan, age 84 of Trumbull, and formerly of Long Island, beloved wife of the late John McGowan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Long Island City, New York on September 10, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Grace Murphy McDonald.

A devout Catholic, Virginia was a loving mother and grandmother, who cared deeply for her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Anne Fox. Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Silva and her husband Richard of Trumbull, Eileen Shannon and her husband George of Fairfield and Jacqueline Finnen and her husband Bob of Manhattan, five grandchildren, James Silva and his wife Elizabeth, Rev. Eric Silva, John Silva, Colleen Shannon and Katie Shannon and a great grandson, Dominic Silva. She also leaves to cherish her memory three sisters, one brother and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 16, 2017, at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by her grandson Rev. Eric Silva. Private interment will take place on Saturday in the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m.
