Obituary of William Daniel Donohue

William Daniel Donohue, age 79 of Trumbull, beloved husband of Marlene Gilbertie Donohue, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4th 2017 at home with his family by his side. Born on April 15th, 1937 in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late William and M. Juroski Donohue. He attended the Citadel in South Carolina where he majored in Physics. He went on to have a career in Sales and then worked many years in the printing field. Sports, football in particular was one of William's greatest passions in life. Growing up, he played football in high school and college, eventually making it to the semi-pro and pro football leagues, where he played for the New York Giants farm team. William was very active in Pop Warner Football where he was a Commissioner for one year, and coached Little League baseball for many years as well. In addition to this, he was a Golden Gloves Boxer. When he wasn't involved with sports, computer sciences were another big hobby of his, where he excelled and became very technologically advanced for his age. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was so incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren, and he loved them more than anything in the world. William will be truly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his loving wife Marlene of 55 years, he is survived by his son, Kevin Donohue and wife Eva Katcher of Clarksburg, Maryland, and daughter Karen Hellthaler and husband Glenn, Sr. of Trumbull; grandchildren Laura Donohue, Nicole Hellthaler, and Glenn Hellthaler, Jr. In addition to his parents, William is predeceased by both his brothers, Richard and Gerard Donohue. All funeral services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
