Obituary of Rita Quatrella

Rita Caruso Quatrella, age 89, of Newtown and formerly of Easton passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at Masonicare of Newtown. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Quatrella. Born in Bridgeport, on July 18, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Frances Passafiume Caruso. Rita had been employed by the Bridgeport Public School System where she had worked as a special education teacher, specializing in reading and teaching students that suffer with dyslexia. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, her greatest enjoyment was found in the time she spent with her family and taking care of them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her three loving sons, Joseph Quatrella and his wife Doreen of Seymour, Daniel Quatrella and his wife Patty of Watertown and Frank Quatrella and his wife Susan of Easton, three cherished grandchildren, Michael Quatrella and his wife Danielle, James Quatrella and his wife Natasha and Nicole Quatrella and her fiancé Ryan Luby, a daughter-in-law, Laura Quatrella of Florida, her brother, Joseph Caruso of Shelton and her sisters, Caroline Wakefield of Southbury and Angeline Schillaci of Bridgeport. In addition to her husband Ralph, she was also predeceased by her son Leonard Quatrella and a sister Rose Iodice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. directly in Notre Dame of Easton Church, 655 Morehouse Rd., Easton. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
