Obituary of Joan M. Cuddy

Joan Marie Cuddy (nee Moher), age 85 of Trumbull died Saturday, November 19 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John "Jack" Cuddy. Born in Waterbury on July 1, 1931 she was a daughter of the late William P. and Mary (Kinney) Moher. She was a Trumbull resident for the last 40 years. Mrs. Cuddy was a retiree of General Electric, where she had worked as an executive secretary for 30 years, the majority of which were spent at the Corporate Headquarters in Fairfield. While working full time and raising her family, Joan pursued a degree in business from the University of Bridgeport and was an honoree of Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Throughout her life and in retirement, Joan pursued many interests. She was an avid tennis player, reader, and bridge enthusiast. She and Jack traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe and particularly enjoyed Ireland, France and Monterey California. Of all the great trips they enjoyed together, nothing topped the summer trips to Cape Cod and the wonderful times they had there with their grandchildren. Joan had a lifelong passion for art, and produced many beautiful oil paintings throughout her life. In 2007, one of her paintings won a blue ribbon in Milford's annual juried art show, "Art Affaire". She had been an active member of the Bridgeport Art League. Joan is survived by her three devoted children, William "Bill" Cuddy of Trumbull, John Cuddy and his wife Bonnie of Monroe, and Mary Lynne Loftus and her husband David of Monroe. In addition to her husband Jack, she was predeceased by her daughter Kerry E. Cardinal. She is also survived by six cherished grandchildren Mark (Lisa) Cardinal, Amanda (Patrick) Brennan, Terra (John) Wakeley, Steven Cardinal, Ryan Cuddy and Travis Cuddy, and four great grandchildren Declan, Brian and Rory Brennan and Lily Cardinal. In addition, she is survived by her sister Patricia Mulhall of Waterbury, son-in-law Mark Cardinal of Trumbull and several nieces and nephews. The family of Joan Cuddy would also like to thank Darla Krapp for her dedicated service for the past three years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 10 a.m. directly at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull.
