Obituary of Joseph Cosco

Joseph Cosco, age 103, of Trumbull and formerly of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Maefair Health Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Concetta Cosco. Born in Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy he came to America at the age of 17 years old. He became a citizen and was very proud to be an American and to serve his country in WW II where he became a sergeant. Born 1/3/13, Joe always felt that was his lucky number -13. He would say "….that's why I'm living so long." Joe worked for over 50 years as a sewing machine operator, and when he retired at age 65, he continued to work six days a week until he turned 92. He was called "G-PA" by his great grandchildren and he loved that. He was a devoted family man who cherished his children, granddaughter and great granddaughters. He is survived by his two daughters, Anna Stupak and Teresa Cosco Mazzone, both of Shelton, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Stupak, two great granddaughters, Gianna and Alexia and his sister-in-law, Lucy Fittante of New Hampshire as well as many nieces, and nephews. In addition to his wife of 49 years, he was pre-deceased by his brothers, Giaquinto and Luigi Cosco, his granddaughter, Melissa Montuori and his sons-in-law, Joseph Stupak and Gary Mazzone. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the care givers at Maefair Health Center who took extra special care of the "Mayor" of Maefair. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 63 Smith Street, Derby, CT 06418.
