Obituary of Frank N. DellaVecchio

Frank N. "Dell" DellaVecchio, Jr., age 81, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Lorraine DeLuca DellaVecchio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport on June 10, 1935, he was a son of the late Frank Sr., and Catherine Simna DellaVecchio. A retired employee of Pepsi Co., he was a soda mechanic for many years. An avid comic book collector, his favorite character was Captain Marvel-Shazam, and he also enjoyed collecting Gene Autry memorabilia. He was also a seasoned bowler, all hobbies which he often enjoyed sharing with his children and grandchildren. But above all things his greatest role was that of being a loving husband, father and grandfather. He treasured every moment with his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed when his family was all together. The memories they shared will forever be in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Dell will truly be missed. In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, Lorraine, survivors include three cherished children, Gary DellaVecchio and his wife Rosemarie of Oxford, Valerie Weimann and her husband Ken of Trumbull, and Dawn Barbierri and her husband Dan of Monroe, his four cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Rebecca Weimann and Drew and Danny Barbierri; three siblings, Rosalie Hoyland and her husband Al of Westport, Edward DellaVecchio and his companion Sandra Smith of Huntington and Patricia Russell of Prospect, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday morning from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11: 00 a.m. in St. Margaret's Shrine, Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. The family would like to thank the hospice nurses and the 10th floor nurses ("his girls") at Bridgeport Hospital for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P. O. Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502.
