Obituary of Noreen P. Salce
Noreen Patricia (Wilson) Salce, age 78 of Fairfield, beloved wife of James A. Salce, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 at St. Vincent's Hospital with her loving family at her bedside. Noreen was born July 17, 1938 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Herman and Mary Wilson, and her late brother Roy C. Wilson.
Beginning at five years of age taking dance lessons from Muriel Howe Studio, Noreen studied tap, ballet and acrobatic dance routines for over 15 years. She then traveled and performed professionally with the dance team of Wells & The Four Fays for a period of 10 years. They performed in Russia on a cultural exchange program, along with tours of Brazil. Highlights in the United States included the Latin Quarter in NY and The Copacabana, along with performing at Armed Forces Military Bases. They were also on shows featuring Sammy Davis Jr, and formally the first appearance of The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show, of which they closed out the show after the Beatles performance.
Starting in the basement of The Holy Family Church in Fairfield, Miss Noreen, as her dance students called her, taught tap, ballet and acrobatic dancing covering a span of over 17 years. Noreen and her husband Jim were to celebrate 35 years of marriage on Sept. 3, 2016.
Survivors include Noreen's sister Mary Jane Zuzick and husband Martin of Shelton, and their children Shauna Lynn Garasimowicz and her three sons, Daniel Garasimowicz and wife Bonnie, Mikhail Garasimowicz, and Andrew Garasimowicz and wife Megan and family, all of Virginia. Also Mary Jane and Martin's son Mark Zuzick and wife Robyn of Sandy Hook, CT and his son Christopher and wife Mandi and daughter of Ohio.
Other survivors include several nieces and nephews, of which Noreen was like a foster mother to them. They are: Larry Wilson of Ansonia, CT, and friend Peg of Monroe, CT, Eileen Plooff and husband Jerry of Penn., Diane Marcinowski and husband Andrew of Sandy Hook, CT, Doreen Richard and husband Raymond of New York. Noreen is also survived by Gary Salce and wife Barbara and their children, Gary J. Salce and wife Janna, Stacey Salce and son Blake, Adam J. Salce, and Patrick Salce and wife Dawn of Virginia and their children Jason Salce and wife Belinda, Kristy Roop and husband Jeff and several grandchildren. Also David Salce of Fairfield, CT, and special friends Ann Maryce (Schwartz) James and husband Bill, Art Zetomer and companion Francine Sanchione, Patti Hudak and family, and neighbors including Agnes and family and her favorite goose (Goosie).
Family and friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church on Old Stratfield Road in Fairfield. Interment will be in Lawncroft Cemetery at 1740 Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m.
