Obituary of James G. Walden
James G. Walden, age 86, of Milford and formerly of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Charlena Young Walden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 15, 1930 in Raleigh, North Carolina, he was a son of the late James Glennie and Annie Hopkins Walden. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, James was a retired Detail Fabrication Specialist at Sikorsky Aircraft, where after 32 years of service he retired at the age of 82. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Sikorsky, as well as the Teamsters Local Union 1150 and was also formerly employed by Bridgeport Brass for 33 years. A devoted parishioner of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Bridgeport, and James served as a Lay Reader and was Treasurer of the Men's Club. He was a member of the Doric Lodge #4 F & A.M. of Bridgeport, where he was Past Grand Worthy Patron, M.W. Prince Hall Grand Lodge, F & A.M. of CT and the Shriners, Arabic Temple #40 A.E.A.O.N.M.S., New Haven, CT where he was Past Potentate. But above all he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who cherished the time he spent with his family. James will truly be missed by all.
In addition to his beloved wife of 60 years, Charlena, survivors include three loving sons, Glenn Walden and his wife Brenda of Milford, Karl Buckey Walden and his wife Carmen of Bridgeport and Terry Walden and his wife Jean Fontaine of Fairfield, eight cherished grandchildren, William and his wife Vonetta, Portia and her husband Fritzner, KC, Jenna, Chimere, Terrell, Terrance Nile and Terron, 11 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his six siblings, Henry, Daniel, Richard, Ann Peggy, Jean Katherine and Rosa Mae.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 12:00 noon at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
