Obituary of Peter J. Ingrassia
Peter J. Ingrassia, age 81, of Trumbull passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Helen Voytek Ingrassia. Born in Bridgeport on November 24, 1934, he was a son of the late Andrew and Jennie Pavone Ingrassia. A proud US Navy Veteran and Carpenter's Union Local 210 member (over 50 years), he had also been employed by Brennan Construction Company of Shelton before his retirement as a construction supervisor with many years of dedicated service. A remarkably gifted woodworker, he had built his own home in Trumbull in the 1960's and in addition to helping his children with their homes, was also proud to have been able to assist numerous others with their homes. He also loved to build wood model scale replicas of bridges and was known by many as "Pete the Toy Maker". See http://www.bebpublishing.com/Toymaker.html for the over 100 wooden toys that he had created. Pete was a HAM Radio operator (WA1ZCF) for over 50 years. He found great enjoyment on the several return trips he took to his father's homeland in Palermo, Italy. A devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife of almost 60 years (10/12/1957), Helen, other survivors include his children, Vincent Ingrassia (Kathy Meyer) of Trumbull, Joan Thomas and her husband Wayne of Claremore, OK and Jean Young and her husband Brian of Huntington, six cherished grandchildren, Vincent, Jr., Anna, Jessica, Megan, Kyle and Kayla and a sister, Bessie Ingrassia of Bridgeport. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Michael and Frank Ingrassia and a sister, Catrina Banks.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main St. , Trumbull. Interment will be on a mountainside in Palermo, Sicily Italy at the convenience of his family.
