Obituary of Carmela Savo

Carmela Gironi Savo, age 90, of Easton, beloved wife of the late Domenico Savo, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at St. Joseph Center in Trumbull. Born in Naples, Italy on May 20, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Francisco and Alberina Gironi. Carmela immigrated to the United States in June of 1959 and settled in Bridgeport where she was a longtime resident before moving to Easton. Before her retirement she was a seamstress for Mitchell Brothers and later worked at Bridgeport Hospital. She enjoyed cooking and tending to her garden but most of all cherished the time spent with her three granddaughters. Survivors include her two loving daughters, Mary Williams and her husband Wallace of Easton, Angela Savo of Laguna Hills, CA and three granddaughters, Theresa Marie, Katherine Ann and Christina Elizabeth Williams as well as several nieces and nephews in the United States and Italy. She was predeceased by a brother and three sisters. Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Margaret Shrine Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery Pilgrimage Mausoleum, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492.
