Obituary of Robert F. Urbanowicz

Robert F. Urbanowicz, age 72, of Trumbull, passed away at home on Monday, July 11, 2016. Born in Bridgeport on August 22, 1943, he was a son of the late Stanley and Sophie DaVitt Urbanowicz. A U. S. Army veteran, he was a teacher for many years at Our Lady of Fatima School in Wilton and was a member of the National Education Association. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Bridgeport. He was an avid train collector and history buff. Robert was a very humble man, who enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his nieces and great nieces and nephew, whom he loved as his own. Survivors include his four loving nieces, Debbie Bevino and her husband Jeff of Milford, Donna Melisi and her husband Mike of Trumbull, Kathy Reiser and her husband Walt of West Long Branch, NJ and Lisa Urbanowicz and George Salanto of Milford, great nieces and nephew, Fallon, Michael, Emily, Allie, Nicolina and Talia as well as his cousin Mary Ann Sopoliga and her husband Emil and their son Paul all of Oxford. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Marilyn Urbanowicz. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
