Obituary of Elaine DeDonato

Elaine M. Mezick DeDonato, age 86, beloved wife of Joseph A. DeDonato, Sr. of Trumbull, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Olyphant, PA on May 17, 1930, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Gbur Mezick and was a longtime resident of Trumbull. Before her retirement she was an electrical crib foreman at Sikorsky Aircraft for over 25 years. Elaine was a past president of the Trumbull Women's Club. She had a passion for arts and crafts and spent much of her time knitting for family and friends. Her needlepoint, bunka and ceramics fill her home and have been a treasured gift to many. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking, her cookies and pastries were centerpiece at all the family gatherings, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. In addition to her husband Joseph of 65 years, survivors include her three loving sons, Joseph A. DeDonato, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Lakeville, John DeDonato and his wife Alice of Fairfield, David DeDonato and his wife Susan of Monroe, brothers, Peter Mezick and Michael Mezick both of Monroe, twin sisters, Margaret Traub and her husband Carl of Trumbull and Marie Mintell of Deltona Fl, a sister-in-law, Edwina Mezick of Monroe and seven cherished grandchildren, Kara, Brian, Bilan, John, Christian, Ava and Olivia as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her step mother, Elizabeth Mezick, and brother, John Mezick. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
