Obituary of Giuseppe Fratarcangeli

Giuseppe Fratarcangeli, age 92, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 24, 1924 in Ripi, Italy to Antonio and Angelina Fratarcangeli. When he arrived from Italy in his early twenties he lived in Connecticut and New York and worked as a construction laborer. He eventually met his now deceased wife, America, also from Ripi, Italy, and moved to Bridgeport where he has lived since. After marriage he owned an Italian grocery store, and after selling the business worked as a tile mason. He continued working as a self-employed tile mason until retirement. Giuseppe was very social and had a very active life well into his later years. He was very generous and was always there to help friends with whatever they needed him for. He had an active interest in Italian opera and literature. He especially loved singing versus from famous operas and quoting Italian authors. Giuseppe is survived by his two children, Claudio Fratarcangeli and his wife Lisa of Fairfield, and Mirella Feather and her husband Robert also of Fairfield; two grandchildren, Bianca and Angela Fratarcangeli, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife America (Bauco) in 2005, his parents, Antonio and Angelina Fratarcangeli and siblings, Lucia Marandola, Bianca Faustini and Michellina Venditti. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
