Obituary of Joseph R. Magro

Joseph Richard Magro, age 90, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Virginia Verdi Magro, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 4, 2016 at St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford on November 19, 1925 he was a son of the late Salvatore and Josephine Magro. He proudly served in the United States Air Corp. Upon his honorable discharge, he continued his education and graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island. Prior to retirement, he was employed by Eaton Corporation in Bethel, CT. After his retirement, his hobbies included playing golf at Tashua Men's Club, bowling and playing cards at the Trumbull Senior Center. He was also a big fan of all high school sports, especially those played by his grandsons, Joseph and Brian McBride of Trumbull. In addition to his beloved wife of 60 years, Virginia, other survivors include his daughter Christine McBride and her husband Joseph, two sons, James Watson and his wife Sandra and Timothy Watson and his wife Regina. He is also survived by five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Salvatore, Sebastian and Valentino and his sister, Lillian. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in Christ the King Church, Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
