Obituary of Marietta Agronis

Marietta Leonetti Agronis, age 85, of Monroe and formerly of Shelton, beloved wife of the late John S. Agronis, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Calabria, Italy on September 25, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Giacinto and Carmela Leonetti. While attending school, she met the love of her life, John and they were married in 1963. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who truly loved her return trips home to Italy as well as her husband's home town in Greece. Marietta enjoyed cooking and gardening but her greatest enjoyment however, was found in the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include two loving children, a daughter, Helen Zervos and her husband Demetri of Monroe, a son, George Agronis of Ohio, eight cherished grandchildren, Anthony Zervos and his wife Jessica, John and Leonardo Zervos, Matthew, Adriaghia, Acacia, Athena and Ariel Argonis, a brother-in-law, Andrea Agriogiannis and his wife Triantafile of Greece, sister-in-law, Vaseliki Vitali and her husband Dario of Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews in the United States and Italy. The family would like to thank CT Hospice for all the care they provided to Marietta during her time of need. Friends are invited to attend the "Rite of Burial" on Friday June 3, 2016 at 9:00 am directly in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave Bridgeport with Fr. Georgios Livaditis Presbyter officiating. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A Trisagion Service will be conducted in the funeral home Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
