Obituary of Robert E. Bayusik

Robert "Bob" Edward Bayusik, age 71 of Huntington, beloved husband of Shirley Husar Bayusik, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 peacefully at St. Vincent's Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born in Bridgeport on May 22, 1944 a son of the late John J. Bayusik and Beulah (Bayusik) Cepetelli, and his Stepfather George Cepetelli. In addition to Shirley, his loving wife of 53 years, Robert was the beloved father of Kevin R. Bayusik of Huntington, Thomas E. Bayusik and his wife Jennie of East Haven. Robert also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Hailey Grace as well as many cousins' nieces, nephews and very good friends. Robert is survived by brothers, John Bayusik and his wife Leona of Southbury, David Bayusik and his wife Linda of Bridgeport, Joseph Bayusik and his wife Marge of Oxford, predeceased by sisters Mariann Mandolfo and Patricia Palmer. "Bob" started his tractor trailer driving career working at a few different companies: K&D Transfer in Bridgeport, Bridgeport Cartage in Bridgeport and finally Holmes Transportation of Bridgeport and Milford. While working at Holmes Transportation "Bob" became the Union "Shop Steward". Bob excelled at being the Union Shop Steward and in 1987 became a Business Representative for Teamsters Local 443 in New Haven, thus starting Bob's second career. Bob went on to move upward thru the Union ranks at Teamsters Local 443 to become a Vice President, President and finally Secretary-Treasurer/Principal Executive Officer until his retirement in 2013. Bob was also a Trustee for Teamsters Local 443 Health & Welfare, Trustee of the New England Teamsters & Trucking Industry Pension Fund, Trustee of the New England Teamsters Federal Credit Union and a Trustee on the Entenmann's Annuity Fund. Bob was "Proud" to be a Teamster. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawn Cemetery, Shelton. Friends may greet the family on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
