Obituary of Nancie C. Tomasko

Nancie Carolyn Herman Tomasko, age 84, of Trumbull, beloved wife of Francis (Frank) E. Tomasko, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at her home with her loving family by her side. Born on April 22, 1931 in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Herman and Elizabeth Jagyi Herman. Nancie was a graduate from the University of Bridgeport with an Associates Degree in Secretarial Studies. A retired employee of the Town of Trumbull, with over 25 years of dedicated service, she was a nurse's aide and later became the lead secretary at Daniels Farm School for many years before her retirement. She enjoyed working with the school children so much, that after her retirement she would often return to school to read to the different classes. Nancie was a dedicated parishioner of St. Theresa Church, where she was involved in many church activities. A former Girl Scout Leader, she enjoyed sewing, cooking for her family, walking and taking a long ride on her bicycle. But above all her greatest and most treasured role in life was that of wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her love and values will continue to live on in the hearts of her family. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her beloved husband of 64 years, Frank, survivors include two loving daughters, Susan Unger and her husband Barry of Trumbull and their children, Brooke Nucifora and her husband Andrew, Holly Unger and Scott Unger and his fiancé Boguslawa Lechowicz, and Lynn Macalino of Naugatuck and her children, Tyler, Garett and Brent Macalino, two adored great grandchildren, Skylar and Blake; brother-in-law, Robert Tomasko of Virginia and Al Patuzzi of Shelton, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Elsie Herman and her sister-in-law, Marian Patuzzi. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
