Obituary of Frank J. Seliga

Frank J. Seliga (Salega), beloved husband of the late Rose Puglisi Seliga, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. Born in Lilly, PA on March 24, 1915, he was the son of the late Joseph and Veroncia Stopka Salega and was a longtime resident of Bridgeport. Before his retirement, Mr. Seliga was a machine operator at the former Bullard Co. of Bridgeport for many years and before that at General Electric Co. Frank was raised on a farm and worked in the coal mines in PA before moving to Bridgeport when he was 28 years old. He was a good, kind, honest man who loved his family including many of his nieces and nephews who loved him in return. Frank was a devoted Catholic who attended Mass at Holy Rosary Church in Bridgeport and after his retirement he attended mass daily and devoted a lot of his spare time to help the church. Frank also enjoyed going to Polka dances and dancing the night away. Now he is dancing in Heaven with all his many loved ones who were waiting for him. Frank was loved and will be missed but remembered always by his family and many friends. Survivors include his loving daughter, Joan Gentile and husband Larry, two great grandchildren, Stephen and Jessica Tartaglia as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kimberly Tartaglia, brothers, Andrew, Joseph, and John Seliga and sisters, Blanch Spodnick, Lavina Duch, Anne Panda. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the nurses and aides at The Jewish Home of the Elderly who gave him such wonderful care while he was there. Your devotion was greatly appreciated by him and his family. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd, Trumbull, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, a mass card or a mass said in his name may be made at the Church of your choice.
