Obituary of Charles R. Saulnier

Charles (Red) Saulnier, age 87, of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Mary DiBisso Saulnier passed away gently on Monday, April 11, 2016 in Griffin Hospital. Born on May 21, 1928 in Shelton, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary Lynn Saulnier. Having graduated from Shelton High where he was captain of the basketball team, Red enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Japan where he climbed Mt. Fuji. He later worked as a draftsman for Manning, Maxwell & Moore where he met the love of his life, Mary. They were married for 53 years until her passing in 2008. Red was a long time member of Mill River Country Club and was one of the only members who never gambled on a game of golf and if you believe that…. ;) He enjoyed traveling worldwide and spending quality time with his family and will always be remembered for his quick wit and never ending sense of humor. He will be truly missed by all that knew him. Survivors include his son, Charles L. Saulnier of Bridgeport, and a daughter, Patricia Saulnier Levine and her husband, Eric of Huntington, a sister-in-law, Christina Mastroni and her husband, Nicholas of Stratford and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many dear friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Rita Banko and Tommy Saulnier. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Stephen Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4-8 pm.
