Obituary of Blazia A. Packnick

Our beautiful Blazia of Shelton, CT passed away peacefully at age 89, on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded in her final days by her loving family. Born in Waterbury on May 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Ona Bolevic. As a young girl raised in Seymour, Blazia enjoyed horseback riding, swimming, cheer-leading at Seymour High, starring in plays and singing at church. Later in life she adored raising her family, gardening, sailing and the arts. In addition, Blazia was an accomplished award winning artist, who in her later years also freely gave of her time volunteering at CRIS Radio for the Blind and often lecturing at St. Lawrence Church in Shelton. Blazia was a loving wife to her "honey" John, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a dear friend to many. Blazia leaves behind her devoted sons, Rob Packnick and his wife Debbie of Shelton and Gary Packnick and his wife Mary of Wolcott, her seven cherished grandchildren, Kyle, Craig, Ally, Aaron and his wife Amy, David and his wife Lauren, Steven and Christine Packnick, her beloved brother, Bill Bolevic and his wife Betty of Ansonia, as well as her great-grandchild Evelyn and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Blazia's friendliness and kindness to all people, is a tribute to the gentle beauty of her heart and soul. Her positive attitude and inspiring presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known her. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Nichols United Methodist Church located at 35 Shelton Road in Trumbull CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made any charity or organization that helps lead others to do the work of Jesus Christ in our broken world. We love and miss you, Blazia – we'll remember you always whenever we gaze at a colorful sunset, knowing that you are painting it for us from heaven…
