Obituary of Rosa Guedes

Rosa Goncalves Negreiro Guedes, age 90, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Jose Lopes Guedes, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 17, 2016 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born on May 2, 1925 in Viade de Baixo, Montalegre, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Goncalves Negreiro and Joana Rodrigues do Castanheiro. Rosa was a retired employee of Acme United with 25 years of dedicated service. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who cared very deeply for her family. She was a hardworking woman who instilled her strong values on her family; her love will live on in her family and loved ones. She will truly be missed by all. Survivors include nine children, Moises Guedes and wife, Birute, John Guedes and wife, Patricia, Dina Costa and husband, Armondo, Albert Guedes and wife, Lori, Armindo Guedes and wife Kimberly, Eleanor Guedes, Mary Otero and husband, Michael, Angelina Killman and husband, Robert and Joseph Guedes and wife, Betsy; 22 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Antonia Negreiro and Leopoldina Martins of Portugal as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the St. Monica Mausoleum in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4B, Southington, CT 06489.
